Open Semantic Interchange (OSI) is an emerging open standard for exchanging semantic models between data, analytics, BI and AI tools. It defines a single JSON/YAML specification that any tool can read and write, providing a vendor-neutral source of truth for data definitions, KPIs and business logic so that meaning is preserved as information moves between platforms.

Because OSI targets the same problem space as the existing catalog interchange capability in CaseTalk (a portable, JSON-based description of data sources, schemas, tables and their semantics), it should be evaluated as an additional export/import option, complementing and aligned with that effort.

The investigation should cover:

• How the OSI semantic model maps onto CaseTalk concepts (object-fact types, roles, constraints, domains) and onto the catalog structure already used for import/export.
• Feasibility and value of an OSI exporter (publishing a CaseTalk model as an OSI semantic model) and an OSI importer (building a model from an OSI specification).
• Where OSI overlaps with, or differs from, the current catalog format, and whether the two can share a common bridge.
• Maturity, governance and adoption of the standard, to judge how much effort to commit and when.

Outcome: a recommendation on whether and how to support OSI, with a proposed scope for a first implementation.
